易恒字可久，長沙人。正統中，戍昆明，復徙騰衝，積學篤行，郡人賴其薰陶，善書，工詩文。著有《思誠稿》楊慎字用修，四川新都人。父廷和，以無子禱於神，夢神以五代，夏魯奇應之，曰武臣也」。輔以中庸》十八章，遂生。慎年十一，擬《過秦論》後舉正徳，庚午鄉試第三卒，未會試第二，廷試第一，授修撰。嘗奉命祀江瀆，以父命見楊文襄公於京口，觀所藏書，無不言言成誦，慎大懼，益發憤讀書。武皇數遊幸，慎上書諫，不報，遂移疾歸。世宗繼統，起慎為講官，講《尚書》，金作《贖刑篇》，言大憝不可贖，盖指罪璫，張銳、于經等以進金得免，云㑹「大禮議起，慎同毛澄、范鏓、毛玉諸臣力諌，又公倡跪門之議，帝怒，下慎獄，十日內再杖之，創甚，斃而復甦，遂戍永昌。時滇之御史郭楠上疏，乞宥議禮諸臣，被詔下獄，自是無敢救慎者。居頃之，安鳳變起困木，宻所慎，戎服往援，與副使張莪謀固守，官兵與賊戰城外，慎促城內兵開門夾攻之，賊敗去。安寧守，欲𣙜民鹽牛稅，慎謂此刀錐者宜推與民，軍官以濬海口役為利，督丁夫六千人下海，民苦之，慎作書箴告當事，俱報罷戍滇。三十五年，凡兩迤郡縣名勝，皆與其士大夫相倡和，放浪湖山，究心著述，暫歸蜀者再，晚欲長歸已七十餘，而滇士有讒之。撫臣王昺者，昺俗戾人也，使四指揮以鋃鐺鎖來，慎不得已至滇，則昺已墨敗，然竟不能歸，病寓蕭寺，以歿䘮還，藁葬新都北門外數百，武穆宗即位，贈光禄少卿，諡文憲。昔毅廟問注張星厯官不能對，以問慎慎，曰：栁星也。世廟問：矞宇嵬瑣四字，慎即舉荀子非十二子篇以對，其後詢明第一，博聞之，士或曰：慎世廟為之黙然。
