23  | 初，獻皇帝廟止修時祀，至是，前揚州府同知豐坊請建明堂，尊獻皇帝廟號為宗，以配上帝。下禮部集議。尚書嚴嵩言：「傳稱萬物成形于秋，故秋祀明堂，以父配主，親親也。至宋儒論則主祖宗之功徳。今以功徳則宜配文皇，以親則宜配獻皇，且未有稱宗而不祔太廟者。帝示夏言，言不敢議。帝曰：皇考稱宗，豈為過情！嵩于是曲順帝旨，以為嚴父配天，允合周道。唐胄爭之曰：三代之禮，莫備于周。郊祀后稷以配天，宗祀文王於明堂以配帝。至周成王之世，未聞以嚴父配天之祭移于武王也。臣謂明堂宜奉太宗配。若獻皇帝得聖人為子，不待稱宗議配，而專廟之享，百世不遷矣」。疏入，帝大怒，下詔獄，黜為民。 |
