| 26 | 初，郭嘉往見袁紹，紹甚敬禮之，居數十日，謂紹謀臣辛評、郭圖曰：「夫智者審於量主，故百全而功名可立。袁公徒欲效周公之下士，而不知用人之機，多端寡要，好謀無決，欲與共濟天下大難，定霸王之業，難矣。吾將更舉而求主，子盍去乎！」二人曰：「袁氏有恩德於天下，人多歸之，且今最強；去將何之！」嘉知其不寤，不復言，遂去之。操召見，與論天下事，喜曰：「使孤成大業者，必此人也！」嘉出，亦喜曰：「眞吾主也！」操表嘉為司空祭酒。 |
