22  | 文學本為心聲，但拘者為之，往往失其本真，流於虛浮，演為濫調；無益於已，有害於人。顧氏於此則折衷於自然，責之以後果。模仿拘牽，雕琢以求工者既不出於自然，必失其本真，非不朽之作。至其別有用心，足以流毒社會，貽害國家者，更為民族之敗類，當群起而攻之。觀其論文學各條所標題目已顯然可見。如「文須有益於天下」，「立言不為一時」，「文不貴多」，「直言」，「著書之難」，「文人摹寫之病」，「文辭欺人」，「文章繁簡」，「文人求古之病」，「誌狀不可妄作」，「作文潤筆」，「作詩之旨」，「詩不必人人皆作」……等是。於文人特推重白居易，以其「每讀書史，多求理道，始知文章合為時而著，歌詩合為事而作」又能「使下人病苦聞于上」也。（卷二十二〈作詩之旨〉條）其反對有意雕琢求簡，於歐陽修《新唐書》屢病之。有曰：「《新唐書》之簡也，不簡於事而簡於文，其所以病也。」（卷二十一〈文章繁簡〉條）舉上數端，餘可概見。 |
