18  | 舅舅之稱有三。《爾雅》：母之弟為舅，《秦風》所謂「我送舅氏」是也。妻父曰外舅，《孟子》註謂：我舅者，吾謂之甥是也。夫之父曰舅，《禮記》所謂舅姑，《爾雅》所謂「姑舅在則稱君舅君姑，沒則曰先舅先姑」是也。後人呼妻兄弟曰舅，本非古法。《爾雅》謂妻之昆弟為甥，劉熙《釋名》謂之外甥，是今之所謂舅，正古之所謂甥，乃俗呼正相反。蓋妻之昆弟方謂我之子為甥，而我呼妻之兄弟亦為甥，本無差別，故從乎己之子之稱以尊之耳。《新唐書·朱延壽傳》：延壽為楊行密妻弟，行密以其私附朱全忠，乃誑其妻曰：「吾喪明，諸子幼，得舅來代我，無憂矣。」及至，乃殺之。《通鑒》則云：軍府事當悉授三舅。胡三省註云：延壽第三。呼妻之兄弟為舅，始見於此。則五代時已有此稱也。 |
